There are four golf courses in the valley, which represent both an alternative use of the landscape and potentially new audiences. They also tend to cover a significant amount of land which can have big impacts on wider conservation aims. Each of the golf courses will be engaged and will advise how they can adjust land management with respect to the landscape character of the Darent Valley.
We will use the certification process associated with the Golf Environment Organisation to provide an industry standard mechanism for engaging clubs and achieving all-round benefits for the landscape, communities and golf. Through this project we will improve the sustainability of each site, we will work with clubs to reduce the chemical run off to the river and improve the water management around the River Darent.
