The Darent Valley has a rich heritage spanning from the first human settlement more than 400,000 years ago to gunpowder and paper mills surviving into the early 20th century. The importance of the area’s extensive heritage is acknowledged with over 20 Scheduled Monuments, five Registered Parks and Gardens and nearly 600 listed buildings designated.

DVLP is helping to conserve important historic sites such as the Archbishop’s Palace but also providing hands-on opportunities for people to discover and celebrate the Darent Valley’s heritage through events, talks and archaeological digs.
