Our Enchanted Woodland project aims to support a community and primary school-led project to create and develop a forest school location and enhance a community greenspace for the Temple Hill community in Dartford.

We are also working to highlight and communicate the rich and unusual heritage of the Enchanted Woodland’s links to Joyce Green Hospital and the Dartford Marshes. This project involves close partnership working with the North West Kent Countryside Partnership, Temple Hill Primary Academy and the Enchanted Woodland Rangers.

NWKCP has already undertaken many volunteer task days to help the Woodland Rangers; tackling scrub encroachment, creating a natural seating area for the pupils’ Forest School sessions, providing a circular waymarked trail to explore the site and replacing fencing on the site.

Many local families came along to the ‘Woodland Craft and Folklore’ event at the site last August. They heard the story of the Green Man of the woods, created a woodland sprite from natural materials and learnt about the site’s rich and interesting history.

Plans are underway for another family-focused event during the summer holidays this year (2022) so more details to follow soon.

Have you found the geocache hidden at the site yet? Download the geocaching app to help locate it (and discover many other caches in the surrounding area and further afield). Let us know when you find it!
