The Darent Valley Path is a popular walking route and at its current length it is walkable in a single day. Kent County Council currently promotes a series of circular walks off the path that have been very popular. This project will expand that audience by improving the standard of whole of the Darent Valley Path, resurfacing, improving waymarking, and promoting access so that people can enjoy new parts of the countryside.

Where possible we will make provision for cyclists to either use the path or an alternative parallel route, and enhance links to train stations to encourage sustainable travel.

Waymarking and interpretation along the route will be improved and updated to provide a better understanding of the heritage features and we will include Google Trekker street view images of the entire route. Investigations to extend the Darent Valley Path from Chipstead to Westerham to provide a ‘complete’ Darent Valley experience are underway.
