A team of volunteer hedgerow surveyors will be recruited, trained, deployed and managed by the North West Kent Countryside Partnership.

An analysis of the existing hedgerow network compared to the historical network will be made along with an assessment of where additional planting might be undertaken to create, reinforce or enhance landscape character. This information will be used to determine where management advice, support for management and new planting can be undertaken, and will then subsequently be delivered.

To date DVLP have supported the planting of 989 metres of new hedgerows and 222 metres of restoration planting. That equates to 1.2km of new hedgerow and 6,000 new trees planted across the valley.

Volunteer surveyors have been recruited and trained in how to carry out hedgerow surveys and surveys have been carried out across the valley to asses the health of the exiting hedgerows.

  • volunteer surveyors
  • maintenance of existing hedgerow network
  • hedgerow management advice
